National Disability Employment Awareness Month is celebrated nationwide each October to celebrate the contributions of workers with disabilities and raise awareness about the value of an inclusive workforce.
This is open to all Special Olympics Missouri Athletes. Online paperwork needs to be completed by Friday morning. If you have any questions, contact information is on the flyer.We are excited to be working with Special Olympics Missouri to give athletes a chance at free Sports Medicals. Physicals are needed and also an obstacle for athletes. This is open to all Special Olympians.
What is a Bemo Buck? It’s behavior currency. An example is If an employee with Autism struggles with staying on a work line, they could be rewarded Bemo Bucks for their best effort to improve. ![]()
With a Bemo Buck our employees can buy items out of the SI Corner Store. Items include hygiene necessities, snacks for their rooms, gifts for holidays (like Mother’s Day), posters, earbuds and so on. Also clothes for accidents or spills. This allows our employees not to be ashamed and forced to go home. They purchase with a Bemo Buck, so the stigma vanishes. ![]()
We get asked occasionally, how people can donate to SI. This is one way. Pick up extra, preferably new items, that you see in a dollar isle or a sale and drop off to us. The SI Corner Store has become important to our employees. An employee just left my office, who is excited to go sell their video games tonight so they have money to buy their three year old niece a doll for her birthday. He is willing to give up what is probably his only form of entertainment on most days to see a smile on his niece’s face. This is why we have the store. SI funds the store, but it can be bigger and better with your help.
